Hans Bleuel, Managing Director and Chief Information Officer, Solus Alternative Asset Management
Mr. Bleuel joined Solus Alternative Asset Management in 2016 as CIO. At Solus, Mr. Bleuel is responsible for the development and oversight of the firm's applications and infrastructure. Mr. Bleuel has over 20 years of technology experience directly supporting the finance industry. Previously, Mr. Bleuel was CIO at Conatus Capital Management from 2008 to 2016. Prior to Conatus, Mr. Bleuel was an Executive Director at Morgan Stanley, where he developed and managed the Enterprise Infrastructure consulting group within the prime brokerage division. During his tenure, he acted in the capacity of virtual CTO for several hundred hedge funds. Mr. Bleuel focused on all aspects of technology, including, but not limited to, designing high performance computing systems, assessing client infrastructure, utilizing best practice methods and developing business continuity plans. Previous, Mr. Bleuel was the Managing Director in charge of Eze Castle's Integration New York tri-state region. He was also CTO for C. Blair Asset Management, a long-short equity technology-focused hedge fund. Mr. Bleuel graduated summa cum laude from Richmond University with a B.S. in Computer Science.
Zachary Frayne, Chief Technology Officer, Pershing Square Capital Management
Mr. Frayne joined Pershing Square Capital Management as their CTO in the spring of 2017. Prior to working at Pershing Square, Mr. Frayne was the CTO of TPG-Axon Capital for twelve years. He helped TPG-Axon quickly expand its operations in NYC, Hong King, Tokyo eventually London. Mr. Frayne also led TPG-Axon’s proprietary development and business analysis teams that ultimately built their best-in-class trading, risk and reconciliation platforms. Prior to working for TPG-Axon, Mr. Frayne was the Director of Technology at Claiborne Capital located in Greenwich, CT for over three years where he managed the firm’s technology buildout, day to day support and development. Prior to working for Claiborne, Mr. Frayne worked for Convergence Asset Management LLC in Greenwich CT as their Director of Technology. Mr. Frayne received a BA in Mathematics with a minor in Computer Sciences from Bernard Baruch College.
John Brennan, Managing Director and Head of Technology, Highfields Capital Management
Mr. Brennan is responsible for several teams of developers and infrastructure assessing and managing the Highfields growing technology needs. Entering the alternative investment industry in 1996, he was a founding Principal of Pequot Capital as CTO and Andor Capital as CIO. With more than 33 years in the technology business, Mr. Brennan's background covers the broad range of power industry exhaust scrubbing controls, mini-computer electronic circuit design and manufacturing, accounting systems development and marketing, media demographic systems and the hedge fund industry. Mr. Brennan's focus is providing the best of breed -- mising off-the-shlef with home-developed systems to provide the best tools and solutions. An avid endurance athlete, Mr. Brennan recently completed his 6th Ironman at Lake Placid in July 2015.
Chris Turek, Managing Director of IT, Evercore Partners
Mr. Turek joined Evercore in 2009 as the Director of Information Technology. In 2012 he was promoted to Managing Director, and overseeing the Facilities department was added to his list of responsibilities. In total, he is responsible for the technical and physical infrastructure of over 20 offices worldwide. Prior to joining Evercore, Mr. Turek worked for Eze Castle Integration where he was a Director in charge of the virtual CTO practice. Prior to Eze Castle, he was the CTO of Bridger Capital.
Adam Pfefer, Director of Corporate Technology, Davidson Kemper Capital Management
Mr. Pfefer is the Director of Corporate Information Technology (IT) at Davidson Kempner Capital Management. Mr Pfefer oversees a global team responsible for all Corporate Systems design, planning and operations. This broad portfolio includes productivity applications, end user technology, data center systems and information security programs. Mr. Pfefer is tasked with successfully meeting the business needs while encouraging productivity, reliability and information security. Previously, Mr. Pfefer was the Head of Infrastructure at Old Lane, LP. Mr. Pfefer is a founder and board member of AITEC and a graduate of Yeshiva University with a BS in Management Information Systems.
Conor Kiernan, Chief Technology Officer, Marshall Wace
Mr. Kiernan is responsible for the development of the global technology platform and operational infrastructure within Marshall Wace. Prior to 2013, Mr. Kiernan was the Global Head of Development at Marshall Wace, responsible for the continued advancement of the firm’s largely proprietary application estate. Mr. Kiernan provides architectural oversight and strategic direction across the Marshall Wace technology group, and has been instrumental in the development of many of their core systems from when he first joined Marshall Wace in 2005. Mr. Kiernan spans the gamut of technologies and has been involved with everything from facilities management, infrastructure, automation, security and software development. Prior to Marshall Wace, Mr. Kiernan had worked in development roles within the Risk function of DKR Capital Partners LP and for Misys International Banking Systems Inc. where he focused on building out their FX trading module prior to working on a team charged with re-architecting the core of their banking product, OPICS. Mr. Kiernan holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics from the University at Albany, State University of New York (2002), where has received classical and hands-on training in software development and design.
Jeffrey Gerson, Chief Information Officer, Leerink Partners
Mr. Gerson has been responsible for all technology strategies, standards, and operations across application development, infrastructure and security at Leerink since 2001. Prior to joining Leerink, Mr. Gerson worked for Mainspring, Inc., a strategic consultancy that created strategies for their clients to capitalize on internet and e-commerce opportunities. Mainspring was acquired by IBM Global Services in 2001. He also worked in a variety of busines and technical roles for JL Kaplan Associates, a multi-billion dollar registered investment advisor. In 2008, Mr. Gerson founded the Sell-Side CIO Forum, an industry peer group of investment bank technology leaders that meet regularly to discuss common challenges. Forum topics include data governance, business continuity, security, vendor management, organizational structure, and regulatory requirements. Mr. Gerson holds a Bachelor of Science from Babson College in Finance, Investments, and Economics.
Erin Calderon, Administrative Assistant
Mrs. Calderon joined AITEC in the spring of 2017 as an Administrative Assistant. A native of Greenville, South Carolina, she graduated from the SC Governor's School for the Arts and Furman University. Prior to relocating to NYC, she spent four years in the Atlanta area as the Admissions Senior Manager for Adventures in Missions, helping to mobilize over 3,000 participants annually to 79 countries around the world. While there, she gained valuable experience in personnel leadership, sales strategy, and CRM process design. Additionally, Erin is a professional harpist and enjoys performing in NYC and the surrounding areas as much as she can.
